What is marbling?
Marbling is a centuries old art process that involves floating paints or pigments on a liquid surface and manipulating those paints with combs and other tools to create designs and patterns. The design is then transferred to a surface to complete the marbled print. Marbling can be applied to many different types of surfaces including paper, fabric, leather, and wood. Tempered East takes a contemporary approach to the art of marbling by using fresh color combinations and playful imagery.
Frequently Asked
Is this hyrdrodipping?
not exactly. hydro dipping can be applied to almost any type of material including glass, metal, and plastic so that means paints like spray paint are often used in hydro dipping. the processes are similar but marbling is applicable to porous surfaces like paper & fabric when traditional materials are used.
Can I wash my marbled hat?
You can wash any of the marbled items you purchase, however, it is highly recommended that you wash your items gently by hand using minimal detergent. I also suggest that you use cold water and air dry your items. This will help preserve the colors of the marbled print. If you would like information please see the care instructions page.
Do you teach classes?
Yes! I teach public and private classes and workshops. For upcoming workshops, information, and registration you can check the events page.
If you are interested in booking a private event for your group or party please get in touch! More information can be found at the marble parties page.
